At the Planete Doc festival in Poland 3 films produced by Final Cut for Real won awards this weekend.
The Act of Killing was overwhelmingly well received at the Planete+ Doc Festival in Warsaw, Poland, winning both the Audience Award of the festival (sponsored by the documentary channel Planete + and the digital platform NC +) as well as the Grand Prix of Lower Silesia.
The Human Scale, directed by Andreas M. Dalsgaard, won the Green Cross Warsaw Award. The jury gave the following statement:
"Improving the quality of life that begins with the changing conditions in which we live on a daily basis, the film initiates a change in thinking about the broader aspects of our impact on the ecosystem".
The jury also expressed hope that the film will become the "inspiration to create a new generation of green cities".
Finally, The Gulabi Gang, directed by Nishtha Jain, produced by Piraya Film in Norway and co-produced by Final Cut for Real, won the The Amnesty International Award, which was accompanied by the following statement from the jury:
"It is an inspiring and moving picture of the women's movement from the rural areas of southern India, which, despite the lack of education and against the traditional divisions in society dare to confront violence against women and other forms of human rights violations".
